Sterling Insurance has signed up to the Aldermanbury Declaration.

The company has set a target to ensure that 25% of all customer-facing staff hold the CII’s Certificate in Insurance or higher before the end of 2011.

At present, 11% of Sterling’s customer-facing staff in underwriting and claims hold the equivalent of an ACII qualification or above.

By signing up to the declaration, Sterling has commited to meeting or surpassing the standards set down by the Chartered Insurance Institute in areas such as insurance qualifications, staff development and ethical conduct.

Sterling director of commercial and personal lines David Sweeney, said: "Sterling is committed to the continual development and training of its staff and signing up to the Aldermanbury Declaration will enable us to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to staff and customers, in addition to demonstrating increased professionalism within our sector.”
