Employment law
A survey by law firm Peninsula found that 42% of brokers are not confident that they fully comply with all aspects of employment law, and 94% are unaware of changes to employment legislation to be introduced in the next six months.

The survey found that, despite this lack of awareness, 71% of brokers said that employment law was the fastest growing concern for clients, and 89% of brokers are asked by clients for advice on employment law.

NPIB acquisition
Norwich and Peterborough Insurance Brokers (NPIB) has acquired the general insurance business of Alan Sexton Insurance Brokers (ASIB).

NPIB is the general insurance broking arm of the Norwich and Peterborough building society.

Call centre software
Phoenix Technology Group has been chosen to provide software for Churchill call centre staff. Churchill will use a customised version of FileNet.

Phoenix said the software will allow staff to access all types of inbound and outbound customer documentation on screen regardless of their original format. This includes letters, emails, paper documents and mainframe-generated reports.

Europ acquisition
Europ Assistance Holdings has acquired the business of Direct Assist Insurance Services (DAIS), part of Fortis UK.

DAIS provides marketing, administration, claims management and underwriting facilities for a range of insured products, including extended warranty, breakdown insurance and domestic emergency assistance.

Rubicon telesales
Stuart Harvey Insurance Brokers has outsourced the telesales support for its Police Federation motor scheme to Rubicon, an insurance services and solutions company.

The outsourcing is for the inbound telesales calls relating to the private motor scheme for police federation members and civilian support staff.
