Solicitors want to get rid of fellow firms with poor claims records, finds a survey by Alexander Forbes Professions.

Almost two-thirds (61%) of the solicitors' firms surveyed are calling for solicitors with poor claims records to leave the profession.

Over 400 law firms were polled, with 150 replying.

Not only were solicitors calling for poor practitioners to leave the profession, almost three-quarters (73%) said that firms which were deemed a poor risk were “justly penalised” by being consigned to the Assigned Risks Pool.

The Assigned Risk Pool provides insurance for solicitors who are not able to buy it on the open market, mostly through making too many previous claims.
