Wayne Tonge appointed sales director to electronic trading business

PowerPlace, a new commercial EDI business backed by Towergate, has appointment of Wayne Tonge as its sales director.

Tonge will lead a team of 10 sales professionals responsible for driving sales development of the PowerPlace software to brokers with an initial focus on those using the Open GI platform.

Tonge was formerly sales director for Towergate’s commercial property underwriting division where he managed a successful sales team responsible for generating over £4m of new business premium in 2008. Prior to joining Towergate, he was sales director for Keelan Westall/Erinaceous Insurance Service.

“PowerPlace is the future for brokers’ commercial SME business handling, but available today," said Tonge. "We are able to share on our own cost savings through improved margins, and simultaneously enable the broker to shave his own costs – a double benefit."

Mark Armitage, managing director of PowerPlace, said: “We are delighted that such a talented team has been assembled who can now offer brokers a dynamic on line capability which is easy to use and cost effective. These appointments come at a time when PowerPlace has passed the half a million monthly premium mark from the initial 160 brokers and Wayne’s team already have a pipeline of an additional 212 brokers in place awaiting training."

PowerPlace works in conjunction with the Open GI platform and offers brokers a range of products from a panel of insurers.
