The UK Treasury Committee is to launch an inquiry into the Financial Services Authority's regulation of the insurance sector.
The inquiry, which will take the form of a one-off evidence session, will focus on the scope of the FSA regulation of the insurance market. The inquiry will also consider areas currently outside the regulator's remit, such as bundled travel insurance and the extended warrantee market.
The evidence session is due to be held on the 23 November. Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Ed Balls will be a witness at the session along with a number of insurance industry representatives. The representatives have as yet not been named.
