UK General continues senior hiring spree with new COO

Specialist personal lines underwriting agency UK General has hired Vicky Hodgson as its new chief operating officer (COO).

Hodgson joins from mobile phone and gadget insurance broker Assurant Intermediary, where she was commercial director. She will join UK General on 2 October, reporting to chief executive Karen Beales.

Hodgson is the latest of a series of senior hires since UK General was bought by US private equity house JC Flowers in March this year.

Recent hires include Zurich’s Matthew Schofield as chief commercial officer and Bluefin’s Jane Bean as chief risk officer.

Beales said: “It was always my intention to create a powerful senior management team to consolidate UK General following the acquisition and grow to the next level of success.

“Vicky will play a key role in shaping the organisation as we evolve our hybrid model to that of a ‘virtual insurer,’ with a strong focus on underwriting discipline and growing profitability for our capacity partners.”
