XL London market Syndicate 1209 leads the hull and liability coverage for the Transportes Aéreos Nacionales de Selva Boeing 737-200 which crashed in Peru, according to market sources.
Reports said the aircraft, which was built in 1981, was valued at $3.5m.
The crash is the fifth involving a commercial airline this month.
Last week, aviation market sources said the four prior losses were not likely to reverse the trend of falling aviation rates. And a London-based broker said on Wednesday that the addition of the loss from the Peru crash was unlikely to have a major effect on rates when airlines renew their coverage later this year.
