Bermuda-based (re)insurer XL Group is expecting losses from the recent US storms of between $50m and $75m.
The events include the tornado activity that hit the mid-west and south-east United States over the periods 22-28 April and 20-23 May.
XL’s preliminary loss estimates from the events are before tax and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums. The majority of the losses are attributable to XL’s reinsurance segment.
The estimates are based on its review of individual treaties and policies expected to be impacted along with available client data.
