A fifth of all medium-sized UK businesses will experience a major disaster in the next five years, forcing many of them to close, according to research by Zurich.

The insurer has devised a specially tailored continuity planning service, called Bounce Back, aimed at reducing the threat and cost of disaster, as well as offering insurance against business interruption.

Explaining the role of the service, Roger Thrift, underwriting and marketing director of Zurich UK, said: "As well as helping businesses to do everything in their power to reduce risks, insurers will also go to great lengths to help them get back on their feet should disaster strike."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
