Robert Grant assumed the position of general manager of QBE Europe in 1994, covering both general insurance and reinsurance in places including London, Lloyd's, Dublin, Paris, Hamburg, Warsaw, Milan and Budapest.

In addition to these businesses, he has also taken on overall responsibility for the group's reinsurance operations in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to this, he was the company's general manager of underwriting at QBE International Insurance from 1992 to 1994
