QBE International Insurance, formerly QBE Reinsurance (London), was incorporated in 1983 and is part of QBE Insurance Group Limited, a publicly traded international insurance and reinsurance business founded in 1886.

QBE now has operations in over 35 countries with 5,000 employees worldwide. The company has a diverse portfolio of more than 150 insurance products available to brokers and intermediaries and a significant range of reinsurance products for insurers, as well as other speciality classes of insurance.

Robert Grant assumed the position of general manager of QBE Europe in 1994, covering both general insurance and reinsurance in places including London, Lloyd's, Dublin, Paris, Hamburg, Warsaw, Milan and Budapest.

In addition to these businesses, he has also taken on overall responsibility for the group's reinsurance operations in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to this, he was the company's general manager of underwriting at QBE International Insurance from 1992 to 1994
