History: Country Mutual Insurance Brokers was established in 1999 with the objective to become a nationwide independent broker providing top quality advice and insurance services to business and personal insurance clients.

It has made considerable progress towards its goal and has grown to 22 outlets, employing more than 500 staff. In 2003, it acquired the Beckett Group, which increased the amount of premium income controlled to more than £150m.

CMIB specialises in providing tailored insurance solutions to commercial and personal customers and takes a risk management approach to complex risks using its expertise to recommend strategies to reduce risks. It also develops bespoke insurance schemes for sectors of industry.

CMIB is a subsidiary of NFU Mutual, a UK rural insurer, which has a group income exceeding £1bn and total assets under management in excess of £8.5bn.

Biography: Neil McKenzie is a respected market figure with a sound knowledge of the UK insurance intermediary market. McKenzie has a broad experience in a number of different markets in the UK in a variety of sales, operational management, strategic management and marketing roles.

In 1998 he was appointed chief manager, commercial insurances for General Accident. From 1998 to 2000 he was director of broker marketing for CGU Insurance.

McKenzie joined NFU Mutual Insurance Society in October 2000.
