Chartis leads table with 18% share and £38.56m written, closely followed by Hannover

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has revealed details of insurer's market share for 2010/2011 solicitors professional indemnity insurance (PII).

This year's total premium pool was £213.6m, down from £241m last year, with Chartis snapping up £38.56m (18%) - the largest of all insurers. It was closely followed by Hannover (14.4%) and XL (13.3%).

Solicitors' PII market share for 2010/2011 (Top 20):
