A Lloyd's broker is about to tackle the frozen wastelands of Alaska in an incredible 130-mile long race.

Kiln broker John Tyszkiewicz is running the “Iditasport”, a unique winter race following the Iditarod trail over frozen rivers, lakes and finishing in the Alaskan mountains.

The course begins at Knik Lake, Alaska and after 130 miles reaches Finger Lake, on the southern slopes of the Alaska Range.

This year the six-strong team will run in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation for which it aims to raise in excess of £30,000.

As part of the sponsorship, Link Insurance is providing John with both his travel insurance and his personal accident insurance.

Last year, again sponsored by Link, John ran the grueling 150 mile “Marathon des Sables” through the Sahara desert and raised more than £20,000 for a number of children's charities.
