The AA says it is now offering annual tyre cover for less than 10p a day. It believes this will be a popular cover as it estimates that 300,000 tyres will be replaced at its own AA Service Centres alone this year.
The AA Tyre Insurance covers puncture repairs and will also replace up to four tyres following accidental or malicious damage.
Managing director Andrew Briscoe commented: "For many drivers, the anticipated costs of running a car are daunting.
"Certainly, no one welcomes having to pay for accidental or malicious damage to their tyres. For a small annual outlay, such unpleasant surprises are kept in check."
