Nick Leighton and Niall Wapshott make the jump

AEGIS London has taken two underwriters from Omega to add errors and omissions (E&O) cover to its casualty book.

The Lloyd’s insurer has appointed Nick Leighton as class underwriter for E&O, and has also taken his assistant underwriter Niall Wapshott.

Leighton joins from Omega Syndicate 958, where he led and developed its professional indemnity book. He will report into AEGIS head of casualty Matt Yeldham.

AEGIS active underwriter David Croom-Johnson said: “Professional liability in the shape of E&O is an attractive addition to our casualty book: it’s mainly uncorrelated with the remainder of our book, and we have found in Nick Leighton an extremely well-respected and experienced underwriter.

“We will be focussing on medium-sized firms, primarily in the USA, but with some business from Europe, Canada and the UK.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
