Airmic has named John Hurrell, currently head of Marsh Risk Consulting, as its new chief executive.

He will take up his post in January 2008, after retiring from Marsh.

Hurrell succeeds David Gamble, who stepped down during the summer after 10 years in the role.

Airmic chairman Colin Campbell said: “We said at the time [of Gamble’s departure] that we would go on searching until we had found someone of the highest calibre, and only then would we make an appointment. “I’m delighted to say that in John we have found just that.”

Airmic represents 1,000 risk managers and corporate insurance buyers with a total premium spend of more than £5bn a year.
