Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (Airmic) members were among the award winners at the European Risk Management Awards in London recently.

Airmic council member Geoff Lingham, a risk manager at Electrolux Holdings, won the Most Effective Use of Technology gong for his creation of a claims-handling system for operating units.

Stuart Martin, now an insurance manager with Balfour Beatty, was chosen as Industry Newcomer of the Year for his work as a corporate risk manager with BAe Systems. Martin is chairman of the Airmic ecommerce special interest group.

Former Airmic council member Graeme Connell was inducted into the European Risk Management

Hall of Fame while Marie-Gemma Dequae, an overseas Airmic member, became the first woman to be named overall European Risk Manager of the Year.


The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
