Shareholders in London-listed insurer Amlin have voted to go-ahead with the company's proposed rights issue, and raise over £43m to reduce gearing and strengthen its balance sheet.

Trading in the new shares is expected to start on 15 January 2002.

The company said on 20 December 2001 that it intended to raise £43.2m in new capital through the issue of two new shares for every seven shares held at the close of business on 9 January 2002.
