Alex Hindson appointed head of group risk

Amlin has appointed Alex Hindson as head of group risk, reporting to Group Chief Risk Officer, James Illingworth.

Hindson joins from Aon Global Risk Consulting where he is currently head of enterprise risk anagement for the EMEA region, leading a team of 12 consultants in developing and implementing tangible risk management solutions for large global clients. Alex is also responsible for integrating ERM into Aon’s overall value proposition and the strategic drive to provide integrated risk advisory services to Aon clients.

From 1988 – 2005, he worked for AstraZeneca, latterly as risk services manager, where he drove the implementation of an integrated risk management strategy across the group, managed corporate governance risk reporting and developed their business continuity management strategy.

James Illingworth, Amlin group chief risk officer said: “As a FTSE 100 company and within the context of the Solvency II risk based regulatory requirements for insurers, Amlin is continually improving its risk management framework. Alex’s appointment is key to us in embedding this developing framework across the Group and to enhancing our capability to manage the new risks inherent in growing our business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
