David Matthews becomes senior development underwriter

Arista Insurance, the commercial lines underwriting operation, has appointed David Matthews as senior development underwriter to meet the growing demand from brokers in the North.

Based in the rapidly expanding Manchester branch, Mr Matthews, who is FCII qualified, joins Arista with over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry. His responsibilities will include senior underwriting tasks as well as developing relationships with both existing and new brokers.

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Dooley, regional manager, said: “It is no secret that we are rapidly expanding our business in the north of England and so the quality of our delivery team is critical.

"We are therefore delighted to have attracted someone of David’s calibre to our branch. As well as being a tremendous asset to the company, his appointment will further enhance the confidence our brokers have in our ability to provide first class technical expertise and service.

“His vast underwriting and development experience has meant that we have been able to develop a new role which will use David’s talent to the absolute maximum.”

Matthews said: “Having been in the industry for over 25 years it is rare to find such a forward thinking and broker focused company as Arista. I am very much looking forward to the challenge of helping to develop both Arista’s business and that of our brokers in the important North West region”.

Arista’s Manchester branch moved to larger premises last month and now houses 12 members of staff.
