Enterprise committee to raise staff concerns
Northern Ireland Assembly members have secured a meeting with the administrator for Quinn Insurance Ltd.
Following a hearing with Quinn Insurance employees last week, the assembly’s committee for enterprise, trade and investment will meet the company’s administrators from Grant Thornton either in Cavan, where it has offices, or Dublin.
The committee’s chair Alban Maginness MLA said: “We recognise that it is an extremely busy time for the administrator and we are very grateful to him for taking time to meet with us.
“It is essential that we do all that we can, as quickly as possible to get this matter resolved for the benefit of Quinn employees, customers and the economy in the west.”
He added, “Both the Irish Regulator and the Financial Services Authority in London have also agreed to meet with us. However, we feel that it is important to meet with the administrator in the first instance, to consider what proposals he can bring forward, prior to arranging a meeting with the regulators.”
The committee was assured by Quinn Insurance representatives that it can pay in full all insurance claims.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
