Barclays has appointed Kieran Murphy as managing director of Barclays Insurance for the bank's UK retail business.

Murphy has been promoted from within Barclays, where he was Managing Director of Barclays Insurance Dublin.

He will be responsible for personal protection and insurance products for Barclays retail customers.

Murphy will report to Paul McNamara, MD of Barclays Investments and Insurance. McNamara said: "I'm delighted to make this key appointment, which is coming at an important time in the evolution of our insurance business."

Barclays offers a range of insurance products including home, motor, life, student possessions, travel insurance, health insurance, business, identity and income insurance, either as stand alone products or as a value added service to current account customers.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
