Staff and clients of brokers Smart and Cook were recovering from saddle soreness this week after staging a 68-mile sponsored charity cycle, raising more than £4,000.

The 20-strong team pedalled up hill and down Yorkshire dale, from the company home, Harrogate in Scarborough.

The money will soon be handed to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The cyclethon was inspired by Harrogate businessman John Dodds' recent 600km coast-to-coast cycle across Mexico.

Group managing director, Paul Meehan, said: "We are delighted by the support of local businesses. Raising money made those of us who are saddle sore appreciate the effort."
