Former DAS head of underwriting Tony Buss will spearhead a UK push for German legal protection provider ARAG.
It was widely anticipated that Buss had left DAS to establish his own after-the-event insurer.
Buss was at the centre of an internal investigation after allegations that he had persuaded a team of senior managers to join the start-up rival. He has now emerged as a major competitor to DAS with support from ARAG.
It is expected that the company will begin operating in the second half of the year.
