Derek Hansen has joined from Lloyd and Partners

Canopius has appointed Derek Hansen to the team as direct & facultative underwriter, reporting to Mike Duffy, divisional underwriter, global property.

In a broking career spanning 25 years, Hansen has worked in the UK and US markets with leading firms including Marsh, Price Forbes and, most recently as a partner with Lloyd and Partners, where he led the 20 strong property team.

Tim Carroll, underwriting director of Canopius, said: “With his extensive industry knowledge and with a long history as a well regarded figure in the Direct and Facultative Property market, Derek will be a great asset to the development of our Global Property business, bringing further depth to our experienced team.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
