Clive Watson set to retire

Canopius Managing General Agents chief executive Clive Watson has decided to retire.

He will step down on 1 October and chairman Michael Watson will resume the role of chief executive while a replacement is found.

Michael Watson said: "Clive has been an integral part of the Canopius story since 2004. He has helped build Synidcate 4444 into the leading Lloyd's business that it is today. We wish him well in his retirement."

Clive Watson added: "My decision to leave is based on a desire to spend more time on personal interests outside the insurance industry."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
