Carole Nash is to begin a drive to grow its motor and home books to a size that would rival its core motorcycle business.

The broker's motorcycle business is worth approximately £50m in premium.

Malcolm Nash, technical development director, said the broker would begin by cross-selling its motor and home propositions to its 250,000 motorcycle policyholders.

"It is not just about advertising. It is making our bike policyholders aware that we are doing other things," he said.

Over the past few months, the broker has added a range of covers to its products, such as cover for helmets and leathers in its home insurance package. These extras, said Nash, would help to attract new customers.

Meanwhile, Carole Nash joined the Misys Countrywide network this week.

Mark Ryder, commercial director of Misys General Insurance, said: "Membership will enable Carole Nash to benefit from preferential rates and commissions on a wide range of exclusive products and services from Countrywide strategic partners."

Irish joint venture
Carole Nash has joined up with Zenith Insurance to grow its motor book in Ireland.

The announcement came as the broker opened a new office in Dublin.

Zenith said it aimed to fill the gap left when Hibernian Insurance exited the market earlier this year. Carole Nash's Irish division manager Mark Stapleton said the broker would offer a "greater choice of cover" because of the deal.
