Vehicle risk manager Risk Answers has said that it does not believe company car and van drivers should take a one-off advanced driving test - but instead should take yearly assessments.
Operations director Chris Howell said: "A one-off advanced driving test puts employees under unnecessary pressure; is very subjective and it is therefore very difficult to achieve continuity in terms of who passes and who fails."
Risk Answers says its view is in line with last year's Work-related Road Safety Task Group which said employers must ensure employees were fit for the tasks they were expected to undertake.
Risk Answers and its partner DriveTech (UK) have launched DATA - Driver Assessment Training Aid - an assessment which shows how at risk a driver is after they have answered a set of questions.
