Shopping around for home insurance is no longer sensible but absolutely crucial as the latest Price Check table from Consumer Intelligence reveals.

Companies are entering and dropping out of the Top 10 performers as price differences increase.

January's Price Check for buildings and contents insurance shows that only four companies have managed to maintain their position in the Top 10 as the market hots up.

Budget Insurance has come straight in at number one, but other significant players such as Admiral, Direct Line, Norwich Union Direct and Tesco Personal Finance also appear in the table for the first time.

With this amount of change, it is more important than ever for people to shop around.

Consumer Intelligence's research in January showed the difference between highest and lowest quotes averaged £443.

Price Check represents just one of the 124 metrics measured by Consumer Intelligence that benchmarks the price and service performance of direct financial services providers.

Clients receive independent, actionable data that enables them to flex their offering to gain competitive advantage.
