The firm chooses a different charity to support each year, but this year’s total far outweighs any other raised before.

Money

Cornish Mutual has raised over £10,000 for an underprivileged children’s charity local to its head offices.

The Truro-based rural insurer raised the money through Great British Bake Off style events as well as a zip line challenge at the Eden Project.

The charity, CHICKS, is based in nearby Tywardreath and will use the money to offer free breaks for children from across the UK.

Cornish Mutual head of SOS fundraising team Roney Toms said: “CHICKS does so much to give young people the chance to have fun and just be children again.

“This shows we are not just about insurance but we care about our community and support the people who live and work here.”
