County Group buys £7.5m GWP broker

Broking firm County Group has bought NMJ Insurance Brokers for an undisclosed sum, taking the gross written premium (GWP) it controls past £80m.

NMJ, which operates from four main sites in Glossop, Scunthorpe, Belper and Bakewell, places £7.5m in GWP.

NMJ was founded in 2009 by executive directors Nick Potts and Mike Hutton. Potts will remain at NMJ as a consultant for six months following the acquisition.

All existing staff and premises will remain the same.

County Group chief executive officer Dave Clapp said: “I have known Mike and Nick for many years and admired their business from afar.

“They have entrusted NMJ Insurance to The County Group and we will continue to build on the exceptional work they have done in developing the business and supporting their people to deliver a fantastic service to their clients.”

Potts said: “We’ve known the senior team at The County Group for many years and have been impressed with how they’ve run and grown their business.”

Hutton added: “We believe that NMJ will continue to prosper in the coming years under the stewardship of The County Group.”
