New campaign features four ads

Churchill

Comedian Dawn French has become the new face of the Churchill ads after the insurer dropped Martin Clunes from the campaign last year.

Churchill, which is part of Direct Line Group, stopped using Clunes in November last year after his driving licence was suspended following a series of speeding offences.

The first of the new Churchill ads, created by ad agency WCRS, will see the iconic dog and French meet at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

The ad is one of four directed by Dominic Brigstocke, who previously worked with French on the comedy show French & Saunders.

Churchill marketing director Amanda Walker said: “The new ads represent the first steps in what I expect to be a fantastic campaign for Churchill Insurance. The chemistry between Churchill and Dawn is brilliant and I am sure that viewers will enjoy watching the relationship develop.”

WCRS managing director Simon Peck added: “Dawn is a perfect companion for Churchill; very entertaining and very British, just like Churchy himself. We’re delighted to have her in the campaign.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
