Churchill has dropped actor Martin Clunes from its advertising campaign after he was banned from driving after a series of speeding offences.

According to several news reports, Churchill took the decision to part company with the Men Behaving Badly star after he informed the firm that he had amassed 12 points on his licence and been banned from driving.

Clunes had appeared in Churchill adverts alongside the firm’s nodding dog mascot since December 2011.

A Churchill spokesman told The Telegraph: ”Martin Clunes recently informed Churchill Insurance that his driving licence has been suspended after he accumulated penalty points for four speeding offences.

”Churchill Insurance currently has no adverts with Martin Clunes on air and will be moving forward with new advertising in the new year.”

Churchill is part of the Direct Line Group, which made its debut on the London Stock Exchange in October.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
