Two directors of loss adjuster McLarens Toplis have gone on gardening leave, two months after the UK arm of the firm was taken over by outsourcing giant Capita.

Chris Mikkelson and Martin Quick are directors of McLarens UK casualty division, which employs more than 200 of the firm's total 1,800 staff. A Capita spokeswoman said both men were on official gardening leave from the company and serving out their notice. She said: “Both left as a direct result of McLarens being integrated into the rest of Capita's business.”

The spokeswoman added the integration process was being overseen by a team from Capita which was also reviewing the whole of the business. She stressed Capita had no plans to cut McLarens staff.

Capita only acquired McLarens' UK operations. The international division of the company, McLarens International Group, has been spun off as a separate company, headed by five of its former directors.
