Independent has won the Duke of Westminster Award for business excellence.

The Duke of Westminster presented the Award to personal lines underwriting manager, Ken Lappin at a ceremony held in Manchester.

The Awards are for companies that have made a significant contribution to the North West of England and have a track record for being good employers.

Lappin said: "We are really delighted to be Duke of Westminster award winners again. We now employ nearly 900 people in the North West and we play a big part in the local community in Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

"There is no doubt in our minds that the North West is an excellent place to find the skilled people we need to need to build on our success."


The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
