Leeds-based insurer also promotes Simon Tate to schemes COO

UK General has hired ex-Ecclesiastical schemes director Tony Bloomer to its commercial schemes division.

Bloomer will join the Leeds-based insurer in April and report to commercial managing director Cathie Bruce.

The firm has also promoted Simon Tate (pictured) to the position of chief operating officer in the non-commercial schemes and affinities unit. He will report to schemes and affinities managing director Neil Martin.

UK General managing director Michael Warren said the new appointments will spearhead further improvements in UK General’s schemes servicing proposition and ensure the business can handle new growth.

Commercial managing director Bruce added:” I am delighted that someone of Tony’s calibre and reputation is joining UK General. He has significant experience in delivering a successful schemes portfolio for other players, and his appointment illustrates our intention to continue to expand our coverage of the fast-growing commercial schemes market.”

Meanwhile, UK general has created three additional leadership positions in the schemes and affinity division.

Sharon West and Steven Knighton will lead schemes distribution in the broker market, while John Bibby will lead distribution in the affinity sector.
