Court writ comes a year after dispute over social housing contract

Royal Courts of Justice

UK General Insurance Group has filed a writ at the High Court against AmTrust.

No details of the writ were given but it is thought to relate to a dispute in November 2010 over capacity for social housing.

As reported in Insurance Times, AmTrust pulled capacity on its social housing account with UK General Insurance Group (UKGI).

It meant brokers with UK General Insurance had only a few weeks to find alternative cover for renewals with social housing business.

UK General said at the time that a small number of brokers had been affected and it was ‘disappointed’ with AmTrust’s decision.

A spokesman for UK General Insurance today declined to comment. Insurance Times is waiting for a response from AmTrust.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
