Elspeth Hackett is joining Esure as head of personal lines in a newly created role.

She will be responsible for overseeing underwriting across Esure and Sheilas Wheels’ home and motor portfolios and will head up a team of circa 40.

Hackett joins Esure from LV= Broker where she was head of personal lines underwriting. She left LV= in October.

She has over 20 years underwriting experience and previously held roles at RBS Insurance and Churchill Insurance.

Commenting on the appointment Esure chief operating officer David Pitt said: “We are delighted to bring someone of Elspeth’s calibre onboard and reporting into Jon Wilshire, chief underwriting officer, will complement our existing experienced team when she joins in February.”

Hackett’s hire follows a number of senior level appointments this year at Esure including Graham Hughes as head of claims, Nigel Gosden as head of operational change, Alan MacEwan as head of operations and Victoria Baker as head of marketing.
