The manufacturers of a new swipe sensor card have designed a card that can scan the entire fingerprint.
Fingerprint Cards have designed the card with the aim of helping insurance companies by reducing the incidence of claims. It anticipates the increased security measure will help it cut down on property damage and theft.
With security demands increasing, biometric-enabled security applications are gaining ground as traditional authentication techniques such as PIN codes and passwords are deemed inadequate in terms of security.
Manufacturers will be able to integrate the technology into PC's, mobiles, PDAs and smart cards.
CEO of Fingerprint Cards Lennart Carlson said: "Our technology offers an unprecedented low-cost track towards the integration of effective biometric-enabled security applications."
