Folgate Insurance is embarking on a major expansion drive in household insurance after enhancing its 'Seasons' products.

The improvements have paid dividends as sales of 'Seasons', a sum insured based contract, are up 40% on the same period for 1999. Much of the success is attributed to the new rating structure featuring reductions in the rating of the majority of UK postcode sectors.

Personal lines underwriting manager Stephen Ormrod said the investment in state of the art lifestyle, demographic and underwriting datasets has enable the Poole-based broker only general insurer to specialise in an 'over 40's' target market.
