NIG hires new head of regional trading

NIG has appointed former Independent Insurance executive manager Stuart Webb as head of regional trading.

Webb will be responsible for underwriting and broker service across NIG’s seven regional underwriting centres and its agricultural business centre in Gloucester.

NIG’s area underwriting managers will report into Webb.

Webb was most recently the president of insurance services at EMR and was chief operating officer for Rubicon prior to their takeover.

Before this, he was an executive manager at Independent Insurance, where he was responsible for the commercial underwriting centre.

Webb’s appointment follows Steve Symonds decision to retire this year, leaving his role as head of regional underwriting.

NIG director of underwriting, Martin Hall, said: "I am delighted to welcome Stuart Webb to our senior team. He brings with him a wealth of industry experience from his time at Rubicon, EMR and Independent.

"NIG will continue to invest in its regional underwriting capability this year by further increasing the number of senior underwriters in the regions.

"Stuart will ensure that all of our resources are geared towards offering brokers the level of service they demand to help grow the business."
