Arthur J Gallagher has appointed Mark Walters to lead its aviation division as executive director.

Walters joins from Lloyd’s broker Tysers where he had been managing director of Aviation since 2009.

Prior to that, he spent more than 18 years at Marsh helping to develop the aviation business and managing business emanating from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Americas.

Gallagher managing director of specialty risks Jonathan Suckling said: “Mark’s extensive aviation experience, both in terms of class and geographic jurisdiction, make him ideally placed to lead our dedicated team of specialists — each of whom can be considered an expert in their field.

“I don’t doubt that with his depth of knowledge, strong insurer relationships and ambition for growth our aviation division will go from strength to strength as we continue to build out our London-based specialty practices.”

Walters added: “It’s great to be on board at Gallagher where the aviation team is well-placed to meet the challenging market conditions; we can be fleet of foot, responsive and innovative while reaping the benefits of being part of a global insurance group, with its breadth of resources.”
