Arthur J Gallagher has bought Maidstone-based managing general agency Evolution Underwriting.
The SME commercial lines MGA will become part of Gallagher’s Pen Underwriting MGA business unit.
Evolution chief executive Paul Upton and his team will continue to run the company under the direction of Pen Underwriting managing director Mark Armitage.
Armitage said: “Evolution is a great business with a proven track record of growth. Its portfolio of SME-focused business and strong relationships with independent provincial brokers offer an excellent strategic fit with our existing commercial mid-market offering and broker partners.
Upton added: “I am incredibly proud of the business we have built up over the last decade and believe that, in Mark and the team at Pen Underwriting, we have found the right partner to support us in taking it to the next level of successful expansion.”
Evolution was established in 2004 in Maidstone.
