Glacier Reinsurance has received a licence to write reinsurance business in Mexico.

The licence, which was granted on 29th March, covers all areas of non-life reinsurance.

Glacier Re plans to write business in Mexico that will mirror its major lines of business worldwide: property, aviation, marine, energy and war & terrorism.

The company said it aims to grow a customer base of major Mexican insurance companies and corporates and anticipates that it will write approximately $10m of business in the country per annum.

Robbie Klaus, chief executive and chief underwriting officer of Glacier Re, said: "This is an important step in our ability to offer global reinsurance solutions.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
