Garwyn is evolving - just like its peers

In March Insurance Times reported (‘Just who are you calling a loss adjuster?’ features 5 March) how the loss adjusting community was evolving, modernising their businesses, looking for new markets and using new technology.

Specialist adjuster Garwyn is no exception. It has faced its problem, including the soft market which forced it to restructure and cut costs. But, like its peers, it is evolving.

And just like its peers the company has acknowledged that its model has to change if it is to grow. Its service offering needs to adapt to the demands of its customers, particularly as it wants to target the larger composite insurers which have particular requirements.

Garwyn is also considering expanding its expertise beyond its core liability services – an acknowledgment perhaps that being niche has its limitations, particularly when looking to land the bigger clients.

Its recent contract wins, such as handling claims arising from major nuclear incidents, shows that specialist expertise are valued.

Garwyn is not looking to challenge the likes of Cunningham Lindsey and Crawford in terms of scale, but the sixth largest loss adjuster in the UK is looking to move up a league.
