Colin Darnell is replaced by David Ragan, formerly of ACE.

Groupama has appointed David Ragan as group compliance officer, following the retirement of Colin Darnell.

Ragan will be responsible for addressing current and forthcoming regulatory issues, advising on regulatory risks that impact the business and offering expert input to business areas that must comply with FSA rules.

The role also includes monitoring & reporting the regulatory aspects of the company and communication and liaison with the FSA. He will report to Rosemary Whitfield-Jones, group company secretary and legal adviser at Groupama Insurances.

Prior to joining Groupama, Ragan was the Property and Casualty compliance officer for ACE European Group, where he was responsible for planning and managing the organisation’s commercial insurance regulation activity throughout Europe. Previously, as legal & compliance Officer for Sterling Insurance Group, he was part of a compliance team, gaining experience in conduct of business regulation, anti money-laundering procedures, fraud prevention and data protection.

Rosemary Whitfield–Jones, said: “David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in compliance management.

"This is a critical area of our business and we believe David has the right skill-set to ensure Groupama continues to operate within the current regulatory regime whilst working closely with the FSA to understand and address any new regulatory changes that arise.

“We would like to thank Colin Darnell for all the time and commitment he has given to Groupama over the years and we wish him well for his retirement.”
