Ben Speers appointed as legal advisor

Ben Speers has been named legal advisor at Groupama UK Services, reporting to Rosemary Whitfield–Jones, who is group company secretary at Groupama Insurances and in-house legal counsel to Groupama’s various UK insurance and broking subsidiaries.

Speers has been practising law for eight years having trained with top tier Australian firm, Minter Ellison. He is qualified as a solicitor both in Australia and the UK, and has worked in Sydney and London for international insurance broker Heath Lambert.

Whitfield–Jones said: “Ben is real asset for the team, taking responsibility for the essential day to day legal work that comes with being part of a busy and growing UK insurance group. He has precisely the skills and experience we need and Ben is already developing to be a very effective addition to the team. I have been very pleased to welcome him to Groupama.”

Speers will be responsible for the day to day transactional legal work for the insurance underwriting and broking businesses within Groupama’s UK portfolio and will also support the legal work surrounding any acquisition and corporate change activities. He joins a specialist legal and compliance team consisting of five members and will be based in London.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
