Former head of energy and marine underwriting takes on chief underwriting officer role

HCC International has named Simon Button chief underwriting officer.

Button has been with HCC since 2000 and has more than 25 years’ experience working in the insurance industry, most recently filling the role of HCC International’s head of energy and marine underwriting.

HCC International chief executive Barry Cook said: “Simon’s promotion is the result of his outstanding performance and our confidence in his ability to lead our underwriting efforts across HCC’s London market business lines.”

Group parent company HCC Insurance Holdings chief executive Christopher Williams said: “The International segment of our business is an important part of HCC’s long-term strategy and future development, and we are pleased that Simon plays such an integral role in the leadership of this part of HCC’s business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
