Heath Lambert may be seeking a flotation on the stock market this year worth £500m, according to reports.
The world's seventh largest broker has approached a number of investment banks in recent months about a possible flotation on the London stock exchange.
The company operates in 40 countries and employs around 4000 staff.
CE Heath was listed on the London Stock Exchange until 1997 when it was taken private in a £103m MBO led by venture capitalist firms, DLJ Private Equity and Candover.
Lambert Fenchurch was also listed before both companies merged in 1999 in a deal worth £133m.
