But chairman points to difficult economic conditions

Accident management assistance group, Helphire, today reported its pre- tax profits had increased 3.9% to £46.8m for the year ending 30th June 2008.

Chairman Rodney Baker-Bates said Helphire had been able to report solid results despite pressure on costs and a slowdown in motor activity.

He said: “Owing to the generally difficult economic environment, trading conditions in the early part of the new financial year have remained challenging. A range of measures has been implemented to improve the Group’s cash flow and we are confident that we will see substantial benefits in the year ahead.”

The group’s revenue increased 39.5% to £404.9m and it introduced a package of measures to significantly reduce debtors including; a significant enhancement of litigation capacity; an imposition of interest on claims after 90 days and other operational improvements.
